DESCRIPTION: David Morice, Fenchurch St., London, pocket chronometer with Arnolds spring detent, 16- 19 jewels, key wind and set, gilt full plate movement with Harrisons maintaining power, cut bimetallic balance and engraved balance cock with diamond endstone in a nickel, hinged back and bezel, engine turned, open face case and Roman numeral, white enamel dial, gold spade and poker hands, serial #4676, 52mm, c1820.
CONDITION: CASE: Not original to movement; Back cover with shallow dent at hinge; Dings and scratches; Bow replaced. DIAL: Very good, now with late 19th century transfer portraits. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Fine scratches on plate; Bright work with scattered specks of oxide; Screw heads with minor marring and loss to blue; Escape wheel hole jewel cracked, endstone and setting rotated 90 degrees and sitting below plate surface; Winding square shortened to fit case. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), balance slightly out of round.
